Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Herman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Nargarito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roman Nargarito is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Walter Herman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Nargarito!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herman fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nargarito fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Herman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nargarito is looking to regain half guard here but Herman keeps moving and retains side control.
Herman trying to control the position but Nargarito is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nargarito is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Herman has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Herman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Nargarito will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Herman stands up and beckons Nargarito to his feet.

Nargarito leaves Herman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Herman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nargarito defends it nicely.

Herman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nargarito tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Herman is in Nargarito's guard.

Nargarito scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Nargarito stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nargarito wants it to stay on the feet.
Nargarito feints the counter takedown.
Nargarito slaps away a takedown attempt from Herman, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Herman tries to clinch but Nargarito is having none of it.
Herman takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Herman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nargarito.

Herman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Herman looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Nargarito escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Herman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Herman is looking to stand up but Nargarito won't let him.
Herman tries to free his leg and advance position but Nargarito is retaining full guard.
Nargarito wants to sweep but no luck.
Herman throwing strikes but missing.
Nargarito being controlled here, momentarily.
Herman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roman Nargarito dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


No luck for Herman with that takedown attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nargarito, right into the meat.

Herman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nargarito's guard.

Herman tries to counter by clinching up but Nargarito breaks away and moves out of range.

Herman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nargarito avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nargarito is pushing Herman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Herman drags the fight down to the ground.
Nargarito is looking to work some ground and pound but Herman has wrist control.
Herman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nargarito is controlling him.
Nargarito's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Herman wants to sweep here but Nargarito controlling him for the moment.
Nargarito throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Nargarito looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nargarito fails with a takedown attempt.
Nargarito swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A looping hook to the body misses from Nargarito. Herman does a little dance to reset his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nargarito fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Herman avoids it really well and circles away.
Herman darts in looking for a takedown but Nargarito gets double underhooks and turns Herman into the cage.

Herman motions for Nargarito to come forward. Herman throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nargarito wants to clinch.
Herman dives in and grabs Nargarito's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nargarito pushes down on Herman's head and hops out.
Nargarito wants to counter the offense by Herman and move into the clinch position.
Nargarito throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Nargarito closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Herman quickly recovers to half guard.
Nargarito seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Herman wants to sweep but Nargarito has passed to side control!
Nargarito wants to lay and pray for a moment but Herman keeps working.

Herman is trying to escape the position but Nargarito is controlling the position.
Nargarito connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Herman some visible discomfort.
The referee asks Nargarito politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nargarito prefers to stall for the moment though.
Nargarito landing a few strikes.
Nargarito wants to control but Herman is keeping him busy.
Walter Herman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Roman Nargarito is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Herman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nargarito on the ground.

Roman Nargarito comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nargarito has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
