Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Julz Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Swisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Julz Bernard has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julz Bernard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Swisher!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard misses with a takedown attempt

and Swisher moves into the clinch.

Bernard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bernard misses with a takedown attempt - Swisher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Swisher clinches.

Swisher ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Swisher no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Swisher has a closed guard, preventing Bernard from standing up.
Swisher looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bernard tries to stand but Swisher is controlling from the bottom.
Swisher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bernard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Bernard wants to get up but he can't break Swisher's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Swisher feints and as Bernard raises his hands in defense, Swisher changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bernard wriggles free and stands up.

Bernard wants to clinch up but Swisher keeps it at a distance.

Bernard closes the distance and clinches.
Bernard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Swisher walks away with a smile on his face. Bernard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julz Bernard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bernard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Swisher swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Swisher wants the takedown. Bernard is fighting it off but Swisher persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bernard's guard against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bernard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Swisher avoids it really well and circles away.

and Swisher counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Swisher lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Julz Bernard will probably get the nod.
