Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Grant Duncan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Avila Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alvarez.
Duncan looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Duncan throws out a powerful jab.
Duncan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alvarez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Duncan lands with a hook. Alvarez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Duncan scores with a head kick. Alvarez tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Sloppy strikes from Duncan. Those never looked like landing.
Alvarez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Duncan but Duncan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alvarez is defended easily by Duncan.
Grant Duncan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Avila Alvarez.

Duncan is pressed up against the cage. Alvarez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Duncan down to the mat. Duncan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Grant Duncan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick misses from Duncan.
Duncan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Alvarez if he has to take too many more of those.
Alvarez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Duncan!

Duncan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Alvarez scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Alvarez lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Duncan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alvarez throws a strike but Duncan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvarez scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Duncan throws a lazy head kick
and Alvarez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Alvarez wants a takedown but no success here.
Alvarez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Alvarez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Duncan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Alvarez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Duncan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Alvarez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Duncan prevents it.

Alvarez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Duncan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Duncan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Alvarez backwards.
Alvarez takes a shot to the head.
Duncan is looking to control Alvarez's arms but Alvarez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Duncan has his back to the cage.

Duncan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Alvarezs head.
Alvarez lands a takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Duncan is trying to keep Alvarez in close.
Duncan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alvarez manages to get himself to full guard.
Duncan lands a couple of digs.
Alvarez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Duncan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Grant Duncan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alvarez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duncan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Duncan throws a quick counter head kick but Alvarez was just out of range.
Alvarez darts in looking for a takedown but Duncan gets double underhooks and turns Alvarez into the cage.
Alvarez ducks under a wild hook from Duncan.
Alvarez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Alvarez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Duncan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Duncan slips a jab and a cross from Alvarez.
Alvarez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Alvarez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Duncan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Alvarez off and has taken his back!

Duncan scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Alvarez is looking for a way out.
Duncan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alvarez can do to turn this around?
Duncan lands punches and elbows.
Alvarez is breathing heavily.
Alvarez is trying to stand back up.

Duncan punishes Alvarez with strikes from the back mount.
Duncan connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Alvarez to escape the position.
Alvarez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Duncan scoring with big shots to the body. Alvarez is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Alvarez was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
