Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Martin Luther King Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Jr comes to the cage accompanied by MLK tribute. Anthony Ramirez struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Anthony Ramirez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramirez rushes King Jr and presses him up against the cage.
King Jr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
King Jr tries to pull guard but Ramirez holds him up against the cage and eventually King Jr drops back down to his feet.
King Jr tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ramirez just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Luther King Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King Jr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working.

King Jr wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ramirez, who protects the arm well.
I wouldn't like to be where Ramirez is right now.

Ramirez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but King Jr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ramirez is trying to buck King Jr off.
Ramirez throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Ramirez is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.
Ramirez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ramirez throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
King Jr working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Ramirez's thigh. Ramirez counters though and makes it back to full guard.
King Jr trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Ramirez manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ramirez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Ramirez stays in close to King Jr's body and controls the position.
Ramirez lands a couple of digs.

King Jr throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ramirez uses it to pass to side control.
King Jr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramirez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ramirez stands up.

Ramirez has King Jr up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Ramirez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ramirez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
King Jr controls Ramirez momentarily but Ramirez frees himself.
Ramirez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
King Jr wants to sweep here but Ramirez controlling him for the moment.

King Jr looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

King Jr is looking for a triangle here but Ramirez uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt - King Jr sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ramirez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King Jr tries to avoid it but Ramirez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King Jr to the ground. King Jr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Martin Luther King Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Ramirez.

King Jr has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ramirez doesn't defend quickly enough and King Jr has managed to lock this one up! Can Ramirez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to King Jr on a fantastic submission victory.
