The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beast wants to slow DeVanzo down by chopping away at his legs.
DeVanzo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
DeVanzo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Beast's head.
DeVanzo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
DeVanzo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Beast counters with a right hand to the body.
Beast dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
DeVanzo throws a right and a left that Beast avoids nicely.
Beast now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Beast leaves DeVanzo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Beast throws a hook to the side of DeVanzo's head but DeVanzo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DeVanzo tries to bum rush Beast with a series of wild strikes but Beast uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Beast throws a jab but it's blocked by DeVanzo.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beast checks a leg kick.
Beast finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

A punch lands to the side of DeVanzo 's head but he takes it in his stride.

DeVanzo motions for Beast to come forward. DeVanzo throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
DeVanzo misses with a double jab.
Beast throws a head kick that misses.
DeVanzo shoots for a takedown but Beast saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
DeVanzo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Some bone on bone action there as Beast checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Beast throws a leg kick but DeVanzo sees it coming and moves out of range.
Beast throws a front kick aimed at DeVanzo's knee but DeVanzo avoids it well.

DeVanzo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Beast sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

As Beast looks to move away, DeVanzo throws a big counter combo but Beast just gets out of the way.
Beast misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from DeVanzo.
DeVanzo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Beast has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fighters circling - DeVanzo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

DeVanzo feints and as Beast raises his hands in defense, DeVanzo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've been hearing that DeVanzo has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
DeVanzo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
DeVanzo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
DeVanzo shoots in looking for a takedown. Beast tries to sprawl out of it but DeVanzo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Beast manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Beast throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
DeVanzo shoots for a double leg takedown but Beast sprawls well. He's pushed DeVanzo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Beast lands the left hand.
A clash of legs there as DeVanzo blocks the low kick.
DeVanzo half committed to a counter leg kick.
Beast just misses with a punch to the body.
DeVanzo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Beast sprawls and moves away.
DeVanzo tried to score with a low kick but Beast checks it.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Beast! But no joy.
Beast tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DeVanzo was well out of range. Poor timing from Beast.

Beast catches DeVanzo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

DeVanzo gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Beast's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Beast slips a jab and a cross from DeVanzo.
DeVanzo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Beast.
DeVanzo ducks right into an uppercut from Beast.
DeVanzo misses with a head kick.
DeVanzo lands with an overhand left.
Beast stuffs the takedown attempt from DeVanzo. DeVanzo gets slowly back to his feet.
DeVanzo moves out of range of the strikes.
Beast is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! DeVanzo had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Beast pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
DeVanzo lands with an uppercut that bounces Beast off the cage and back into range.

Beast feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends DeVanzo sprawling to the canvas! DeVanzo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Beast finish him?!
Oh DeVanzo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Beast fakes high and swings low for a body shot but DeVanzo manages to avoid it.
DeVanzo swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Beast walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
DeVanzo walks straight into a right hand from Beast - that's dropped him! Beast jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save DeVanzo from any more punishment! DeVanzo complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Billy Beast!
As Billy Beast got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I'm bad, I know it. I'm bad, I show it.'.
In defeat, Artie DeVanzo stepped up to the mic, saying 'Hey, are we done here? 'Cause I'm losing my buzz. '.
