The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oliveira scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Oliveira thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Maxwell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Oliveira thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Oliveira wants to work for an arm triangle but Maxwell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oliveira wants to control from the top but Maxwell keeps moving.
Maxwell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Oliveira tries to clinch but Maxwell is having none of it.

Maxwell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Maxwell tries to bum rush Oliveira with a series of wild strikes but Oliveira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Maxwell went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Oliveira tries to close the distance and clinch up but Maxwell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Maxwell gets caught flat footed, as Oliveira shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Maxwell pushes Oliveira off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Maxwell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Maxwell manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Maxwell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Oliveira walks away with a smile on his face. Maxwell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Oliveira tries to close the distance and clinch up but Maxwell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Maxwell has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Oliveira is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oliveira drops back looking for a leg! Maxwell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maxwell manages to kick Oliveira off! Oliveira jumps back into Maxwell's guard.

Oliveira postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Maxwell covers up, he's hurt! Oliveira keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Oliveira and the ref steps in to end the fight! Oliveira can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
