The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Scaletta darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Scaletta is looking to counter punch.
Scaletta works Smith's body with a nice hook.

Scaletta rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Smith tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Scaletta prevents the takedown attempt.
Scaletta blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Scaletta will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.
Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Scaletta is defending well.
Vito Scaletta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.
Smith takes a shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scaletta scores with a shoulder strike.
Scaletta tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Smith throws a head punch that misses.
Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Scaletta avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Scaletta throws a big uppercut that drops Smith! More strikes from Scaletta and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Smith lies dazed against the cage as Scaletta celebrates with his cornermen!
