Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Predator Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu-Jitsu. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Predator Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 2, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckett scores with the left hand. Burns knows he should have avoided that one.
Beckett tries to work over Burns's front leg with a kick but Burns checks it.
Jim Beckett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Beckett closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Burns tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Burns sneaks back into half guard.

Beckett looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Burns doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Beckett fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Burns is out of range.

Burns misses with a straight right.
Burns gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Burns on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Burns keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Beckett lands a lovely overhand right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Burns checks a leg kick.
Burns swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Beckett bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Beckett lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Burns has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Burns and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Beckett throws a low kick but Burns avoids it.

Burns takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Beckett connects with a single shot there.
Burns defending well as Beckett loads up on a big left hand.

and Burns counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beckett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Predator Burns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Beckett parries the strikes from Burns easily there. Burns is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Beckett to escape.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beckett keeps working.

Burns in side control lands a decent elbow.
Beckett is trying to control Burns's posture but Burns avoids it.
Burns is looking to take a break and control but Beckett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A close second round but Jim Beckett will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Beckett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Burns displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Beckett throws out the jab.

and Burns counters with a nice double leg into side control. Beckett won't be happy with that.

Beckett stops Burns from passing to mount.
Beckett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Beckett is not content to let Burns control the position.
Burns tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Burns is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Beckett's shoulder. That is not cool.
Burns is trying to ground and pound but Beckett uses the momentary lack of control by Burns to regain half guard.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beckett keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Burns slows the pace down in half guard.
Beckett is not content to let Burns control the position.
Burns drops an elbow to the side of Beckett's head.
Burns trying to control from half guard but Beckett is working away.
Beckett wants to improve his position but Burns is controlling well.
Burns content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Burns throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Predator Burns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Burns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beckett keeps working.
Burns wants to advance to full mount but Beckett doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Beckett has control of Burns's left arm, preventing Burns from doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burns with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Burns wants to control from the top but Beckett keeps moving.
Beckett utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Beckett pulls Burns in close to his closed guard and prevents Burns from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

so Burns counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Beckett is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Burns wants to control from the top but Beckett keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Burns looking to improve position, pressing down on Beckett's thigh with his hand. Beckett seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Burns paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Burns's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Beckett picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

A very excited looking Jim Beckett made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Predator Burns spoke after the fight, saying 'It's ok, i'm home.'.
