Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex De Nascimento!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

John shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in De Nascimento's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Nascimento has his hands on John's head, controlling the position.
Let's hope that De Nascimento has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

John gets to his feet. De Nascimento looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
John throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

John drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
John working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as De Nascimento holds on and takes a little breather.
John has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as John takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The referee is keeping an eye on John - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A short body shot lands from John as the two fighters clinch.
John tries to land a knee to the head but De Nascimento blocks with his arms.

John changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. De Nascimento looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

John is stalling here. De Nascimento is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! John seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and De Nascimento has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

and De Nascimento counters with a nice double leg into guard.

John is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. De Nascimento presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
De Nascimento's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
John manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
De Nascimento takes a knee to the side of the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Come on De Nascimento - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

John shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. John showed some decent athleticism there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
John is pressing down on De Nascimento's thigh, looking to free his foot. De Nascimento is holding on for now.
De Nascimento should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
