Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hal Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Diesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Diesel!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diesel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boyle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diesel in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Boyle is trying to get back to half guard.
Boyle dodges the ground and pound from Diesel.
Boyle is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Diesel's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Boyle keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Boyle tries to roll over but Diesel keeps him under control.
Diesel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diesel is nestled in close to Boyle, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Diesel lands with a punch from half guard.
Nice strikes from Diesel there.
Diesel controlling the pace.

Diesel wants to work for an arm triangle but Boyle is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Diesel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Diesel with the ground and pound but Boyle uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Diesel trying to control but Boyle is working from the bottom.
Diesel is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Boyle wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Diesel is now in half guard.

Diesel is trying to control the action in half guard but Boyle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Boyle is trying to maintain the position but Diesel is very close to passing his half guard.

Diesel is trying to work for a kimura but Boyle is defending well.
Diesel is controlling the pace.

Boyle is looking for a sweep. Diesel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boyle is staying active underneath Diesel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Diesel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diesel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Diesel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diesel in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Diesel dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Boyle fails with the takedown

so Diesel counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Diesel cracks Boyle with a solid left hand.
Diesel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Diesel throws a strike but Boyle rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Diesel wants to hit a switch here but Boyle passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Diesel there!
Diesel tries to hold on but Boyle postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diesel is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Boyle is staying active.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boyle wants to get back to his feet but Diesel is holding on tight.

Boyle gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Hal Boyle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diesel leaves Boyle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Diesel tries to counter with a clinch but Boyle shakes him off and moves away.
Boyle doesn't manage to clinch there - Diesel circles away.
Diesel lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Diesel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Boyle quickly recovers to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diesel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boyle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Diesel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boyle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diesel.
Jay Diesel has got the better of the ground game so far.
Boyle regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Diesel.
Diesel with a nice head shot there.


Boyle is rocked!
Diesel lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Oh Boyle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diesel loads up on a big left hand. Boyle felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Diesel looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Boyle can't hide his disappointment, as Diesel celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Diesel!
