Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brendan Maranz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Gage!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maranz missing with a left hand there. Gage was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
As Maranz backs off Gage throws a huge counter combo but Maranz manages to avoid it all.
Maranz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Maranz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gage.
Gage moves into the clinch successfully.
Maranz throws an elbow but it misses.
Gage pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gage doesn't manage to clinch there - Maranz circles away.
Gage tries to clinch up but Maranz circles away and keeps his distance.
Maranz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gage throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Maranz moves into the clinch.
Gage lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Maranz takes a knee right on the jaw!
Gage lands a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maranz has Gage pressed against the cage, preventing Gage from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gage makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Gage trying to control the position but instead, Maranz has worked for underhooks and has pushed Gage into the cage.
Gage connects with a nasty looking knee right to Maranz's face.
Maranz is rocked!
It looks like Brendan Maranz has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Oh Maranz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gage pushes Maranz back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Gage lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Knees to the body from Gage.
Nice body punch from Gage - that landed with a thud.
Gage breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gage fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gage has closed the distance and engaged Maranz in a clinch.
Gage has Maranz pressed against the cage. He pushes Maranz back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Gage throws a beautiful elbow that sends Maranz crashing to the floor! Gage piles on the pressure with more strikes! Maranz is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Gage!
