Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ald Muniz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ald Muniz!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Castro has clasped his hands together around Muniz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Castro misses with the ground and pound.
Castro working the strikes but Muniz uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Castro is just content to waste time from the top position. Muniz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Muniz is pulling down on Castro's head. It's preventing any offense from Castro, at least for the moment.
Muniz looking for a sweep. Not yet Muniz, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castro being controlled here momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Castro throws a strike but Muniz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Castro wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Muniz is now in half guard.
Muniz content to control rather than advance.
Castro is concentrating on defense, preventing Muniz from advancing position.
Castro throws a strike from the bottom but Muniz passes into side control!
Castro tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Muniz presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Castro tries to hold on but Muniz postures up.
Castro wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Muniz looking to control and managing it successfully.
Muniz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Castro tries to lock up and control but Muniz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Castro is trying to escape the mount.
Castro tries to lock up and control but Muniz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

It looks like Muniz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Muniz avoids the attempt from Castro to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Castro feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Muniz's calf.

Castro clinches up with Muniz and pushes him back against the cage.

Castro has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Muniz is trying to keep an underhook but Castro manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Castro misses with a head shot. Muniz uses the momentum to regain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castro postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Muniz wants to sweep here but Castro controlling him for the moment.
Castro throws a strike but Muniz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ald Muniz has got the better of the ground game so far.
Castro is looking to improve his position.
Well, if Muniz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Castro is trying to control but can't.
Muniz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Castro wants to control but Muniz is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Muniz controlling the action here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Let's hope that Muniz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Castro closes the distance and clinches.
Castro is looking to break free of the clinch but Muniz has double underhooks.

Castro has Muniz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Castro pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Muniz tumbling to the mat - Castro dives into Muniz's guard.

Castro throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Castro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Castro with a flurry of punches that miss.
Muniz looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Muniz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Castro's guard.

Dan Castro dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Castro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Castro sets himself, and Muniz steps forward looking for the clinch! Castro avoids it this time.

Castro moves into the clinch.
Muniz will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Castro up against the cage.

Castro gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Muniz regains guard.

Castro throws an elbow that misses. Muniz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Castro's guard. Nice move by Muniz!

Castro wants to get back to his feet but Muniz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Castro controls Muniz momentarily but Muniz frees himself.
Castro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Muniz postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Muniz is stalling in the full guard.
Castro can't keep his opponent in guard - Muniz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Muniz trying to pass the guard but Castro defending well.
Muniz sitting and controlling from the half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Muniz passes into side control, despite Castro's attempt to control the position.
Castro looking for a sweep but Muniz has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Muniz controlling the pace for now.
Castro is desperately trying to improve his position but Muniz has a good base and remains in mount.
Muniz avoids the attempt from Castro to control.
Muniz controlling his opponent.

Ald Muniz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Muniz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
