PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saint Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jump Around by House of Pain. Kane has chosen The Imperial March as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kane clinches up with Patrick and pushes him back against the cage.

Kane has clasped his hands together around Patrick's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Kane cracks Patrick with a big elbow.
Kane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Patrick stops Kane from passing to mount.
Patrick is trying to control Kane's posture but Kane avoids it.
Patrick is looking to regain half guard here but Kane keeps moving and retains side control.

Kane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Patrick, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patrick is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kane is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Kane lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Kane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Patrick is looking to improve his position but Kane isn't that keen on the idea.

Patrick sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kane pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Kane jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Patrick manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kane advances to full mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kane walks into a jab.
Patrick rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Patrick paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kane bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Patrick cracks Kane with a right hand to the side of the head.
A punch lands to the side of Kane 's head but he takes it in his stride.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jab, jab by Patrick - just one landing.
Kane is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Kane rushes Patrick and presses him up against the cage.

Kane tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Saint Patrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Kane.

Patrick clobbers Kane with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kane is trying hard to land a takedown here. Patrick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Patrick circles away.
Patrick was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Patrick jabs Kane right on the nose. Kane blinks but takes it well.
Patrick throws a looping overhand right but Kane ducks down to avoid it.

Patrick lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.

and Kane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Kane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kane keeps control of Patrick as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

A punch lands to the side of Kane 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Kane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Patrick's waist but Patrick gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kane off to one side.

Saint Patrick is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
