Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eliseo Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddie Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eliseo Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Freddie Mercury!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercury drives through and clinches with Schultz against the cage.

Mercury pulls guard effortlessly.
Mercury seems keen to control Schultz's posture.

Schultz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Schultz throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mercury is looking for a triangle but Schultz pushes his legs off easily.
Schultz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schultz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Schultz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Schultz throws an elbow that misses. Mercury uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schultz's guard. Nice move by Mercury!


That's one minute gone in the round.
Schultz keeping moving, preventing Mercury from controlling successfully.
Mercury stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schultz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mercury seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Schultz trying to keep a closed guard but Mercury is proving a slippery customer.

Schultz is working an open guard so Mercury takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Schultz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mercury manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mercury avoids the body shot from Schultz.
Mercury takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Schultz tries to sprawl but Mercury drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mercury wants to pass to mount but Schultz is defending the position.
Mercury seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schultz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mercury seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mercury thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mercury is thwarting Schultz's attempts to control the position.

Mercury is looking for a kimura here.

Schultz looking for submissions off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mercury blocks a head kick by Schultz.

Mercury closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Schultz's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mercury throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Schultz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mercury slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mercury stands up from Schultz's guard - Mercury perhaps looking for a knockout.

Mercury drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddie Mercury dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mercury throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Schultz trying to control the position but instead, Mercury has worked for underhooks and has pushed Schultz into the cage.

Schultz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mercury shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Schultz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Schultz manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Schultz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mercury manages to avoid it.

Mercury clinches up with Schultz and pushes him back against the cage.
Schultz fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mercury drags the fight down to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mercury had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schultz defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercury pulls Schultz in close to prevent any damage.
Mercury looking to control but Schultz passes into half guard.
Mercury trying to hold on to Schultz's head to control him but Schultz postures up.

Schultz stands up out of the half guard.
Schultz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And Mercury tries to counter it with a takedown but Schultz pushes his down on his head and steps out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mercury closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
It looks like Mercury is going to stand back up.
Mercury trying to control from half guard but Schultz is working away.
Schultz tries to roll over but Mercury keeps him under control.
Freddie Mercury has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mercury stalling away here and it's allowed Schultz to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Mercury trying to control the position from guard on top but Schultz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Schultz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schultz connects with a body shot.
Mercury takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Mercury throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Schultz was covering up waiting for the punch and Mercury finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mercury stands up and waves to Schultz to follow him.
Eliseo Schultz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mercury instigates a clinch.
Mercury misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Schultz.

Schultz successfully pulls guard.

Schultz kicks Mercury off and gets to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mercury has managed to clinch.
Mercury keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Schultz's efforts to push away.

Schultz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Schultz clinches with his opponent.

Schultz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mercury scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Schultz throws Mercury to one side and escapes!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eliseo Schultz dominated that second round.
That's time! Schultz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Mercury closes the distance and clinches.
Schultz can't break the clinch.

Schultz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Schultz swings for the body but Mercury moves out of range.
Mercury is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Schultz misses with a wild body shot.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mercury.
Mercury advances to full mount.
Schultz working to try and regain half guard.
Schultz blocking the ground and pound.

Mercury throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mercury sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Mercury avoids the attempt from Schultz to control.
Mercury tries to control but Schultz wriggling away.
Mercury controlling the position easily from mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Schultz is looking to get to half guard.
Schultz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mercury.
Mercury misses with a head shot.
Mercury content just to control the position here.

Mercury is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Schultz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Schultz!

Mercury wants to sweep but no luck.
Mercury pulls Schultz in close to prevent any damage.
Mercury is trying to keep Schultz in close.
Schultz works over Mercury with some ground and pound from guard.
Schultz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Schultz throws a strike but Mercury rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Mercury stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Mercury fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schultz sprawls well initially but Mercury persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Schultz manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mercury keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mercury takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Schultz breaks the clinch.
Schultz tries to clinch but Mercury moves out of range.
Schultz is looking to wear down Mercury with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Mercury feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

I would just about give that final round to Freddie Mercury.
I think Mercury has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
