Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Detroit Racer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Mir is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Detroit Racer!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir looks to land a combination. Racer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Detroit Racer has been cut.
Mir misses with a two punch combination.
Racer feints the counter takedown.
Racer throws a low kick but Mir moves out of range easily.
Mir misses with a double jab

and Racer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Racer.

Mir has his feet on Racer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Mir dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mir pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mir blocks a low kick nicely.
Racer avoids the head kick by Mir.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up but Racer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Racer fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Mir tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Racer defends well and Mir ends up having to push Racer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Racer changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Racer throws a big shot that misses.
Mir connects with a high kick.
Racer throws a looping overhand right but Mir ducks down to avoid it.
Mir tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Racer counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Mir can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Racer controls the pace.
Racer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Racer prevents Mir from getting back to his feet.
Racer makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Racer stands up over Mir, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Racer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
We've been informed that Racer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mir tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Racer was well out of range. Poor timing from Mir.

Racer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mir to the ground. Racer is now in Mir's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Racer looks up at the clock and then as Mir takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Racer smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Racer is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Some wild striking there from Mir.
Mark Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Racer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mir manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Racer thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mir wants to clinch up but Racer keeps it at a distance.

and Racer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mir's guard.

Racer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mir with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Racer is keen to just control but Mir is a slippery customer.

Mir went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Mir is looking to clinch.
And Racer tries to counter it with a takedown but Mir pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Racer throws a hook to the side of Mir's head but Mir sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Racer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Racer.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Mir manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Racer misses with a hook from the clinch.
Racer swings wildly with an uppercut but Mir uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mir is working for takedown but Racer is calmly controlling the position for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Detroit Racer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Racer tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Racer to the ground. Racer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mark Mir is winning the standup battle so far.
Racer pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mir is out of range and Racer settles back down.
Mir misses the jab.
Mir shoots in but no luck this time.
Racer throws a jab but it's blocked by Mir.
Mir tries for a takedown but Racer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Racer drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mir defends it well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mir takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Racer is putting a hurting on Mir here, landing some big shots from side control.

Racer lands a strong strike to the head of Mir. That's dazed him! Racer looking to finish here. Mir is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Racer lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
