PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eugene Sandov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Wad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eugene Sandov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Dick Wad!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sandov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wad to the mat! Wad manages to get full guard.
Wad is pulling down on Sandov's head to control his posture.
Sandov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wad can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wad has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Wad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sandov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sandov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wad's head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wad wants to sweep here but Sandov controlling him for the moment.

Wad tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sandov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Wad is looking to regain half guard here but Sandov keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sandov looks up at the clock and then as Wad takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sandov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The strikes coming from Sandov are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Wad is trying to improve his position.
Sandov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Sandov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sandov tries to advance to mount but Wad denies him.
Sandov remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Sandov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sandov wants to control but Wad is keeping him busy.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wad leaves Sandov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wad looks to throw the jab but Sandov is out of range.
Sandov was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Wad lands a head shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Sandov misses the target.
Sandov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Wad smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sandov throws a hook but Wad blocks it.
Sandov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wad defends well and Sandov ends up having to push Wad into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Wad is not content to let Sandov control the position.

Sandov is looking to take a break and control but Wad is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Wad's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sandov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wad can do to turn this around?
Wad tries to control but Sandov manages to take his back.
Sandov is hanging on to Wad's back as he tries to escape.
Wad is trying to remain composed but Sandov is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Eugene Sandov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sandov.
Sandov has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Wad.
Sandov gets his hands free as Wad looks to control.

Sandov lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Sandov.
I really don't envy Wad right now.

Sandov has the hooks in. Wad is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
