Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Rock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Smith!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rock rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rock lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rock.
Rock fails with the takedown.
Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Rock throws a push kick but Smith slaps the foot to one side.
Rock tries to clinch up
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Rick Rock has been cut.
Rock avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Smith feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Rock sprawling to the canvas! Rock rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Smith finish him?!
Rock is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rock get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Rock stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Smith runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Steven Smith!
