Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunner Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Staph Aureus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris has closed the distance and engaged Aureus in a clinch.

Harris manages to break the clinch.
Harris scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

It looks like Staph Aureus has been cut.
Harris fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Aureus is out of range.
Harris has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Harris shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aureus sprawls well. Aureus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Harris gets slowly back to his feet.
Aureus is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Aureus clinches up against the cage.

Harris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harris shoots in but Aureus avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Aureus throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Aureus lands with a left to the head.
Aureus struggles to land a body shot inside as Harris controls his hands.
Aureus misses with an elbow over the top.
Aureus is pressed up against the cage. Harris has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aureus down to the mat. Aureus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunner Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aureus tries to move into range but Harris moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Harris takes a swing at Aureus's ribcage but misses.

Aureus shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Aureus was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Aureus goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Harris rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Aureus's guard! Nice work there by Harris!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Harris drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aureus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harris has Aureus in his guard.

Aureus with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aureus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Harris wants to sweep but no luck.
Aureus throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Harris is striking from the bottom but Aureus uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Harris manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aureus stops Harris from getting back to his feet.
Aureus looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Harris wants to control but Aureus is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Aureus lands strikes from half guard.
Harris gets full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aureus is in close to Harris's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harris avoids a kick to the body.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.
Harris tries to pull guard but Aureus holds him up against the cage and eventually Harris drops back down to his feet.

Harris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Harris swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Aureus counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Harris closes the distance and pushes Aureus back into the cage.

Aureus digs a right hand into Harris's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Harris's gas tank.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Aureus.
Aureus tries a body shot but Harris blocks it.

Harris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Harris feints a jab promting Aureus to slip. Harris then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Aureus slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Aureus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Harris is defended easily by Aureus.

Harris scores with a jab. Aureus acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Harris clinches.
Harris is trying to break the clinch but Aureus has him pressed against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Aureus throws an elbow but misses.

Harris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Harris shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Harris frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Harris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Harris has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
