The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Sturd Jr fails with a takedown attempt.

Gibson throws a leg kick that is checked

and Sturd Jr counters by moving into the clinch.
Gibson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sturd Jr backwards.
A nice right hand lands inside from Sturd Jr.
Gibson gets underhooks to prevent Sturd Jr's takedown attempt.
Gibson is pushing Sturd Jr up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Sturd Jr misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gibson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sturd Jr feints and as Gibson raises his hands in defense, Sturd Jr changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sturd Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gibson is not content to let Sturd Jr control the position.

Tarik Gibson's cut is getting worse.
