Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Pan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vinicius Costa!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pan swinging wildly here.
Pan waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Costa.
Pan wants to clinch up but Costa keeps it at a distance.
A slapping leg kick lands for Costa.
Costa slips a straight right by Pan.
Pan wants to clinch but Costa slips to the side
and Costa counters with an outside leg kick.
A head kick from Costa lands but Pan takes it in his stride.
Pan tries to clinch up.
Pan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Costa lands a nice leg kick that just misses Pan's sensitive parts.
We've been hearing reports that Pan has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Costa connects with a high kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Decent striking displayed by Pan there.
Pan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Costa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A head kick misses from Costa.
As Costa tries to get set, Pan tries to push him back and clinch up but Costa manages to avoid the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Costa lands with a kick to the temple. Pan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Costa showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pan.
Costa misses with a looping left.
Peter Pan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Costa avoids a punch combination nicely.
Costa tries to keep at a distance but Pan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pan throws a knee to the head but misses.
Costa's coach down at Animal House was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Costa's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Pan tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Costa has a couple of punches blocked by Pan.
Costa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Costa circles away quickly and effectively.
Costa connects with a high kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice inside leg kick there by Costa. That's going to slow Pan down.
Pan looks to clinch
and Costa counters with a head kick that drops Pan to the mat! Pan scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Pan is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Costa throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Pan is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
