PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Zimmerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Sansario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zimmerman comes to the cage accompanied by Bonecrusher- Neva Scared. Nick Sansario will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Zimmerman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Sansario!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sansario takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sansario misses with a hook. Zimmerman ducked under it nicely.
Zimmerman tries to score with a low kick but Sansario moves his leg out of the way.
Zimmerman tries to clinch up.
Sansario avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sansario fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zimmerman defending well as Sansario loads up on a big left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sansario throws a looping overhand right but Zimmerman ducks down to avoid it.

enabling Sansario to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Robert Zimmerman has been cut.
Zimmerman wants to slow Sansario down by chopping away at his legs.

Zimmerman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sansario throws out the jab.
Sansario scores with a punch to the head.

Zimmerman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sansario's guard.

Zimmerman is looking for submissions but instead, Sansario has regained full guard.

Zimmerman drops back looking for a leg! Sansario is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sansario manages to kick Zimmerman off! Zimmerman jumps back into Sansario's guard.
Zimmerman wants to pass the guard but Sansario is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zimmerman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Zimmerman trying to control the position from guard on top but Sansario is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Zimmerman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sansario is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zimmerman, into his guard.
Zimmerman wants to sweep here but Sansario controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Sansario counters with a stiff right hand.

Zimmerman doesn't manage to clinch there - Sansario circles away.
Zimmerman tries to clinch but Sansario moves out of range.
Zimmerman misses the body punch
and Sansario cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Zimmerman walks into a straight right hand from Sansario.

Robert Zimmerman's cut is getting worse.

Zimmerman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sansario.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Zimmerman does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sansario circles away from the clinch attempt.

Zimmerman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Zimmerman wants to pass the guard but Sansario is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Zimmerman is trying to control the action in half guard but Sansario is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Zimmerman is trying to work for a kimura but Sansario is defending well.
Zimmerman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sansario does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Zimmerman is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sansario has managed to free his arm - good work.

Zimmerman is working for a kimura but Sansario is defending it quite comfortably.

Nick Sansario showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A slow jab from Sansario misses its intended target.
Zimmerman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zimmerman slips a straight right by Sansario.

Zimmerman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sansario checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Zimmerman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Zimmerman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sansario tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Zimmerman is working to tighten is grip on Sansario's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Sansario has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Zimmerman is really squeezing tight and eventually Sansario passes out! Zimmerman breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Robert Zimmerman!
