PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kisuke Urahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eliézer Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Machado's choice of entrance music: Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Kisuke Urahara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Eliézer Machado!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Urahara can pounce on him.
Some wild striking there from Urahara.
Urahara looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Machado doesn't manage to clinch there - Urahara circles away.
Urahara scores with the left hand. Machado knows he should have avoided that one.
Machado stalks Urahara and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Urahara's face. Urahara staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd cheers as Machado lands an impressive looking overhand right. Urahara doesn't seem phased though.
Machado keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Machado is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Machado connects with a jab.
Urahara throws a series of punches but Machado avoids them all with ease.
Nice defenses there by Machado.
Machado appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

enabling Machado to counter with a crisp jab.
Urahara walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Machado tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Machado looks to land a left hand but Urahara moved out of range nicely.
Urahara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Machado was well out of range. Poor timing from Urahara.
Machado unleashes a big counter combination but Urahara bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Machado scores with a jab to the head.
Machado takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Urahara lands a leg kick that knocks Machado off balance momentarily.
Machado paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Urahara lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Machado has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Machado and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Urahara stuns Machado with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Eliézer Machado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machado throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Urahara throws a hook but Machado avoids it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Urahara tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Machado's elbow.

Urahara fails to pull guard.
Machado pushes off an throws an elbow but Urahara leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Urahara tries to work over Machado's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Machado told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
A nice right hand lands inside from Machado.
Machado comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Urahara goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Machado misses with an elbow over the top.
Urahara blocks the elbow strike.
Urahara scores with a shot to the side of Machado's head.

Urahara avoids a wild elbow strike from Machado.

Urahara is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Machado not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Urahara isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Machado stacks Urahara on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Machado!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Eliézer Machado seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Urahara tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Urahara lands a nice shot to the body.
Urahara makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Machado creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Urahara's defenses.
Urahara tries to stall but Machado uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Machado comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Machado has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Urahara throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Urahara manages to break the clinch.
Machado shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Urahara eats them both and turns towards Machado to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Machado takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Urahara counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Urahara bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Urahara displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Machado throws out the jab.

Urahara jumps guard and drags Machado to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Urahara is looking for a triangle but Machado pushes his legs off easily.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The adventures of Machado the control monster continue. Boring.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Urahara takes one to the chin there.
Machado works the jab nicely.
Urahara swings for the body but Machado moves out of range.
Machado misses with a hook.
Machado misses with a wild body shot.
Urahara keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Urahara comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Machado cracks a nice hook into Urahara's ribs.

A close second round but Eliézer Machado will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Both fighters circling a little - Urahara finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Machado wants to clinch up but Urahara keeps it at a distance.

Machado is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Urahara slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Urahara is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Machado is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Machado has escaped and now he's on top!

Urahara has his foot on Machado's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Machado works his way back into a safe position though.
Kisuke Urahara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, if Machado is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Machado takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Machado blocks the body kick.
Machado bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Urahara's head backwards.
Urahara takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Urahara tried to score with a low kick but Machado checks it.
Eliézer Machado seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Urahara throws a head kick that misses.
Machado connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Urahara momentarily.
Machado takes a swing at Urahara's ribcage but misses.
Donk. Machado catches Urahara right on the button with a cross.
Urahara throws a sloppy head kick and Machado moves out of range easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Machado fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Urahara on the side of the head.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Machado, as that shot connected.


Urahara is rocked!
Machado just misses with a punch to the body.
Urahara appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Eliézer Machado.
I've got Machado winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
