PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Coles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konstanty Farell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konstanty Farell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Coles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Konstanty Farell!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coles stuffs the takedown attempt from Farell. Farell gets slowly back to his feet.
Farell has his takedown stuffed
and Coles finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Coles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Farell shoots and misses
and Coles counters with a straight right hand.
Dennis Coles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konstanty Farell.

Coles has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Coles bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Coles.
Farell takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coles sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Farell to the ground! Coles dives into full mount looking to finish!


It looks like Konstanty Farell has been cut.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Coles is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Farell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Farell shrugs it off.
Coles tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

We've been informed that Farell has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's time! Coles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Farell takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Farell with the ground and pound but Coles uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Coles wants to sweep here but Farell controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Coles is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Farell is looking to work some ground and pound but Coles has wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Farell takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Farell is breathing heavily.

and Coles counters by clinching up.
Coles lands a hook to the side of the head.

Coles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Coles moves into the clinch.
Coles pushes Farell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Farell's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Coles gets through Farell's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Coles digs a right hand underneath Farell's ribcage. Farell let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Coles works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Coles slows down the pace here.
Coles is leaning against Farell and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Coles digs a right hand into Farell's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Farell's gas tank.

Coles lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Farell.
Coles scores with a shot to the side of Farell's head.

Coles lands on the inside with an uppercut.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Coles.
Coles's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Coles presses Farell against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A left hand lands to the body for Coles.

Coles manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Coles lands a hook that stumbles Farell back into the cage. Coles follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Farell to the canvas! Coles pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Farell has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Dennis Coles!
An out of breath Dennis Coles thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
