The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCaron fails with the takedown.
McCaron tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Thompson swivels and escapes.
McCaron looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McCaron trying to control from half guard but Thompson is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCaron thows a huge punch but Thompson dodges it nicely.
Thompson manages to get to full guard.

Thompson wants to sweep here but McCaron controlling him for the moment.
McCaron tries to stand but Thompson is controlling from the bottom.

Thompson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McCaron has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McCaron jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Thompson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Thompson and McCaron has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
McCaron looks winded!
Thompson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Thompson manages to work his way to half guard, despite McCaron's best efforts.

Thompson manages to get to full guard.
Thompson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCaron on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McCaron wants to control but Thompson is keeping him busy.
McCaron thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

and McCaron counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thompson won't be happy with that.
Thompson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Horrible takedown attempt by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by McCaron, which made it look bad.

McCaron throws a right hand that Thompson ducks under and follows up with a left that Thompson also avoids with ease.
Johnny McCaron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McCaron defends well and Thompson ends up having to push McCaron into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thompson.
Thompson rushes McCaron and presses him up against the cage.

McCaron tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thompson smiles and moves away.
