The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mathis gets caught flat footed, as Strikeson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mathis is looking for a triangle but Strikeson pushes his legs off easily.

Mathis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Strikeson defends it easily.
Strikeson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mathis has his foot on Strikeson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Strikeson works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mathis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strikeson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mathis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Strikeson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mathis scores with a couple of nice shots.

Strikeson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Strikeson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
