Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Melbye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smit comes to the cage accompanied by Can't be Touched. Melbye is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Beast and the Harlot. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Smit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Melbye!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melbye throws out a leg kick but Smit moves out of range and Melbye only half commits.
Melbye throws a nice looking combination but Smit bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A left lands for Smit.
Smit throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smit, as that shot connected.
Melbye throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Smit looks to land a combination but Melbye avoids it well.
A nice leg kick lands there from Smit.
Smit cracks a nice hook into Melbye's ribs.
Smit misses with a hook.

Smit throws a hook to the side of Melbye's head but Melbye sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Melbye is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smit lands a right hook to the body.
Smit connects with a jab.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Smit.
Smit swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smit takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Melbye has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Melbye there as he acknowledges the shot.

Smit clobbers Melbye with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smit dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Melbye. That did some damage!

Melbye is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Smit lands a front kick.
A punch lands to the side of Melbye 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smit feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Melbye's calf.

Melbye is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Smit falls off balance throwing a combination
and Melbye counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smit's knee momentarily.
Smit lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Melbye on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Smit. Smit obviously looking to wear him down.

Smit feints and then cracks Melbye's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Melbye down.

Melbye takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smit throws a leg kick which misses Melbye's front leg but catches the back leg as Melbye tries to avoid it.

Melbye gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Smit lands a nice hook to Melbye's body. Melbye takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Melbye uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smit.
Smit throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Melbye on the side of the head.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Melbye might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Smit has got the better of the exchanges.
Smit fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Melbye manages to avoid it.

Melbye has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Smit.
