The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kadota takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ravena tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kadota paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kadota throws a sloppy head kick and Ravena moves out of range easily.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kadota!
Kadota moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kadota dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ravena. That did some damage!
Kadota bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Takashi Kadota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kadota slaps away a takedown attempt from Ravena, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kadota fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ravena tries to clinch there but Kadota circles away.
Kadota feinted with a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kadota turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kadota keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A jab from Kadota misses.
Ravena throws a head kick that misses.

It looks like Kiefer Ravena has been cut.
Kadota tries to score with a low kick but Ravena moves his leg out of the way.
Kadota lands a front kick.

Kadota darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ravena pushes Kadota off but Kadota dives into side control.
Ravena tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Kadota working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Ravena looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kadota! Submission of the night perhaps?
