Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timmy Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chet Mannly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Timmy Sims!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chet Mannly!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mannly tries to score with a low kick but Sims moves his leg out of the way.
Mannly misses with a head kick.
Mannly comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Mannly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mannly throws a strike aimed at the side of Sims's head but Sims avoids it well.
Mannly is looking to take a break and control but Sims is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mannly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sims. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mannly lands a nice forearm strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sims stops Mannly from passing to mount.

Mannly looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Sims's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sims is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mannly trying to control from half guard but Sims is working away.

Sims is positioning himself well to prevent Mannly advancing to mount.
Mannly is thwarting Sims's attempts to control the position.
Mannly wants to control but Sims is keeping him busy.
Sims could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sims is concentrating on defense, preventing Mannly from advancing position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sims is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mannly's half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mannly can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sims prevents Mannly from standing back up.
Mannly trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Mannly tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mannly is in a horrible position here. Sims smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sims scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mannly?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sims postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mannly looks a forlorn figure.
Mannly really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sims lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Sims with the ground and pound from mount.
Mannly working to try and regain half guard.
Sims landing strikes from the mount.
Sims landing strikes from the mount and Mannly is in trouble!
Mannly tries to hold on but Sims pushes him away.
Sims lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mannly hang on?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sims lands a heavy elbow.
Sims looking to finish Mannly with some ground and pound. This is bad for Mannly!

Sims looking to secure an arm triangle but Mannly defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timmy Sims dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sims leaves Mannly with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sims tries to counter by clinching up but Mannly breaks away and moves out of range.
Sims fails to land the takedown.
Mannly misses with a two punch combination.
Chet Mannly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sims has Mannly up against the cage in a clinch.

Sims has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mannly uses from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mannly wants to stand but Sims has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sims wants to sweep but no luck.
Mannly must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sims not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sims has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sims seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Sims wants to sweep here but Mannly controlling him for the moment.
Sims manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mannly manages to get himself to full guard.


Mannly escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sims gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Timmy Sims overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mannly working a defensive guard here.
Sims is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sims preventing the sweep.

Sims stands and steps away. Mannly gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Sims fails with a takedown attempt.

Mannly shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sims manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sims kicks Mannly off and gets to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sims is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mannly gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timmy Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mannly tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sims tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mannly smiles and moves away.

Mannly darts in and clinches Sims up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sims decides to pull guard.

Mannly got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sims has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mannly has managed to get both his arms back between Sims's legs - danger averted.
Mannly trying to control but Sims is working from the bottom.
Mannly looking to sit in guard and control but Sims gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mannly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mannly is trying to control the position but Sims postures up.
Sims is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sims landing with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timmy Sims dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mannly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sims sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mannly somewhat.
Sims shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mannly but Mannly pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mannly lands a big head kick that sends Sims tumbling to the mat! Mannly takes a step backwards and waves Sims back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Timmy Sims has been cut.

Mannly manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sims on his heels. He'll look to pass Sims's guard now, I'm sure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sims is on top in guard.

Mannly wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Sims is now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sims working Mannly over with strikes.
Mannly looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sims working over Mannly with some ground and pound. Mannly looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Sims thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mannly's head.
Mannly has hold of Sims's hands but Sims slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Sims seems to be looking for submissions.
Sims scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mannly is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sims scores with a couple of nice shots.

Sims has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mannly defend it? Sims steps over the head and cranks it - Mannly is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sims!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Timmy Sims!
