PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hop Sing Jung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Luther King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen I kill cause im hungry as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hop Sing Jung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Martin Luther King!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jung shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Jung finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
King trying to hold on to Jung's head to control him but Jung postures up.
Jung wants to pass the guard but King is defending well.
King is refusing to be controlled, as Jung sits in half guard.
King wants to control but Jung is keeping busy and won't allow it.
King is looking for a sweep. Jung is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jung content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Jung wants to free his trapped foot but King is holding on for dear life with his legs.
King is trying to control but can't.
Jung has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jung is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Jung eventually gives up the hold.
King moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jung is looking to advance position but King has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Jung tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jung knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for King on the ground.

Jung is working hard here to advance position.
Jung bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Jung has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
King is trying to control the position but Jung postures up.

Jung wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.
Jung is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Jung has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jung wants to free his trapped foot but King is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Jung is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jung trying to control from King's half guard. King has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Jung tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jung wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jung swings for the body but King moves out of range.
King with the counter takedown but Jung avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jung.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hop Sing Jung dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jung looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Jung persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing.
King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jung.
Jung gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jung will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hop Sing Jung. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jung shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. King eats them both and turns towards Jung to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jung throws a hook but King blocks it.

Jung dives in for a single leg takedown but King sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jung shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
King stops Jung from passing to mount.
King can't do much from the bottom here.

Jung is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, King has escaped the position, nice work there.
King manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Jung is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but King pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jung keeps working.
Jung tries to roll over but King keeps him under control.
King wants to pass the guard but Jung is defending well.
Jung wants to improve his position but King is controlling well.
Jung has a hand on King's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. King takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Jung is trying desperately to improve position.
Jung could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jung is looking to escape.
Jung working to try and regain half guard.

King is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jung has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jung controls the position.
Jung is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King controlling his opponent.
King trying to control but Jung is having none of it.
Jung is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jung on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jung tries to get out of the position.
Jung bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
King is trying to control the position from the bottom.
King is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hop Sing Jung will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jung throws the left hand but King avoids the punch easily.
Jung changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Jung manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King feints the counter takedown.
Jung shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
King looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Jung manages to get an easy takedown there - catching King on his heels. He'll look to pass King's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jung is looking for a triangle here but King uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Jung manages to work his way to half guard, despite King's best efforts.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jung moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

King seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jung does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jung has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Jung's legs - danger averted.

Jung wants to sweep but King has passed to side control!

King is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jung is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jung is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hop Sing Jung.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jung, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
