PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Denver Ingram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Wilshere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilshere has chosen Batard as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Denver Ingram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Wilshere!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilshere closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ingram's guard.
Ingram wants to get back to his feet but Wilshere passes into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ingram is looking to control Wilshere's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ingram avoid being mounted?
Wilshere is taking a breather. Ingram says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ingram misses with some strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilshere prevents Ingram from improving his position.

Wilshere stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Ingram walks into a stiff left hand from Wilshere.

Wilshere feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ingram is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Wilshere gets control of Ingram's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wilshere will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Wilshere really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ingram. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ingram drops back looking for a leg! Wilshere is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wilshere manages to kick Ingram off! Ingram jumps back into Wilshere's guard.

Wilshere is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wilshere wants to sweep here but Ingram controlling him for the moment.

Ingram really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wilshere tries to move to full mount but Ingram actually manages to regain half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Wilshere shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wilshere showed some decent athleticism there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ingram avoids a punch combination nicely.
Denver Ingram is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wilshere throws a nice looking combination but Ingram bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
As Wilshere looks to move away, Ingram throws a big counter combo but Wilshere just gets out of the way.

Wilshere fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ingram sprawls well initially but Wilshere persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ingram kicks off Wilshere and gets to his feet.
Ingram looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wilshere throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wilshere tries to clinch up.
No luck for Ingram with that takedown attempt.
Wilshere tries a quick counter leg kick but Ingram is wise to it.

Ingram closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wilshere quickly recovers to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ingram is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wilshere has managed to free his arm - good work.

Wilshere makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Wilshere stuffs the takedown attempt from Ingram. Ingram gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ingram misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Despite the aggression on Wilshere's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

A close second round but Chris Wilshere will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ingram escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wilshere gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ingram wants to hit a switch here but Wilshere passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ingram there!

Ingram is wriggling around trying to escape.

Wilshere throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Wilshere is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ingram has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ingram!

Ingram seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wilshere can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ingram got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wilshere has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ingram has managed to get both his arms back between Wilshere's legs - danger averted.
Denver Ingram has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chris Wilshere is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Chris Wilshere comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wilshere has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
