PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damon Crow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Stenemo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stenemo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hand of Stone kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kim Stenemo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Damon Crow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Kim Stenemo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crow fails to land the takedown.

Crow drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stenemo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Crow off and has taken his back!
Stenemo keeps control of the position as Crow tries to break free.
Stenemo not allowing Crow to control his hands.
Crow rolls, trying to escape but Stenemo keeps control of the position.
Crow looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Stenemo is trying to stick to Crow's back but Crow is turning into Stenemo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Stenemo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Crow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Crow is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stenemo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Crow.
Crow is breathing heavily.

Crow is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Stenemo still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Stenemo has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Stenemo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Crow is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Crow wants to improve his position but Stenemo is controlling well.

Crow looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Stenemo pushes past his half guard into mount!

Stenemo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Crow knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Crow for a finish.

Stenemo is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Crow pulls his head out easily.

A close round but Kim Stenemo will probably get the nod.

Crow takes the fight into the clinch.
Crow wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stenemo has him pressed against the cage.
Crow fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Stenemo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Crow gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Crow desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Crow manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Crow holds on and takes a little breather.
Crow manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stenemo manages to get himself to full guard.
Crow works over Stenemo with some ground and pound from guard.

Crow wants to control from the top but Stenemo keeps moving.
Stenemo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stenemo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Crow thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Stenemo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Crow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Crow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Crow drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stenemo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Crow has Stenemo in his guard.

Stenemo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Crow is just riding it out for now. Stenemo eventually gives up the hold.

Stenemo is trying to work for a kimura but Crow is defending well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon Crow dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Stenemo tries to clinch up but Crow circles away and keeps his distance.
Crow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stenemo tries to avoid it but Crow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stenemo to the ground. Stenemo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Stenemo darts in and clinches Crow up against the cage.
Crow is trying to drag Stenemo to the mat but Stenemo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Crow changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stenemo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Crow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stenemo seems to be looking for submissions.

Stenemo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stenemo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Damon Crow.
I think Crow has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
