Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zipo Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dzhabar Musuev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zipo Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dzhabar Musuev!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan blocks a head kick by Musuev.

Khan shoots in and gets a takedown into Musuev's guard.
Musuev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khan's guard.

Khan being controlled here, momentarily.
Musuev postures up.
Khan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Musuev on the ground.

Khan is looking for a triangle here but Musuev uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Khan is trying to control Musuev's posture but Musuev avoids it.

Musuev decides to stand back up. Musuev steps back and let's Khan get back to his feet.

Khan clinches up against the cage.

Musuev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Musuev wants to clinch.

Khan drives through and clinches with Musuev against the cage.

Musuev works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Khan is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Musuev presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Come on Khan - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Musuev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Khan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Musuev has his hands clasped together around Khan's back. He's all about the action.
Khan wants to stand but Musuev has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Musuev is holding on to half guard well.

Let's hope that Musuev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Musuev wants to control but Khan is keeping busy.
Musuev works his way to full guard. Good work.
Khan looking to sit in guard and control but Musuev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khan trying to keep a closed guard but Musuev is proving a slippery customer.
Khan wants to improve his position but instead Musuev has moved into half guard.
Musuev controlling the action here.

Khan gets back to full guard.
Khan looking to control but Musuev passes into half guard.

Musuev stands up out of the half guard.

Khan gets caught flat footed, as Musuev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Musuev is standing up over Khan. Khan looks to escape but Musuev dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dzhabar Musuev dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Musuev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Khan as he avoids it easily.
Khan shoots for a takedown but Musuev saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Zipo Khan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Khan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Musuev pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Musuev closes the distance and clinches.
Khan tries to pull guard but Musuev forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zipo Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Khan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Musuev smiles and moves away.

Musuev forces Khan back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Musuev is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Musuev drags the fight down to the ground.
Musuev is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Khan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Khan looking to sit in guard and control but Musuev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Musuev drops back looking for a leg! Khan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Khan manages to kick Musuev off! Musuev jumps back into Khan's guard.

Musuev scoring with punches to the head and body.
Musuev trying to control the position from guard on top but Khan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Musuev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Musuev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Khan has his hands on Musuev's head, controlling the position.
Musuev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Musuev passes Khan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Musuev wants to stand up but Khan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Musuev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Musuev trying to control the pace.
Khan is looking for a sweep. Musuev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Musuev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Khan wants to get back to full guard.
Musuev content to control rather than advance.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Musuev lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dzhabar Musuev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Khan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Musuev defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khan.
Musuev keeps the fight on the outside.
Musuev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Khan dives in for a single leg takedown but Musuev sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Musuev scores with a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Khan. Musuev does a little dance to reset his feet.
Musuev drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Khan defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Khan with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zipo Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Musuev looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Khan!

Musuev is working to tighten his grip on Khan's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Khan has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Musuev is really squeezing tight and eventually Khan passes out! Musuev breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
