PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Honcho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uncomfortable Positions (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Honcho might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 30 Seconds to Mars- Battle of One. Uncomfortable Positions told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Positions misses with a jab, cross combination.

Positions gets caught flat footed, as Honcho shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Positions working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Honcho.
Positions avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Positions trying to keep a closed guard but Honcho is proving a slippery customer.
Honcho postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Honcho shoots for a takedown but Positions saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Uncomfortable Positions seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Positions lands a nice short elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Positions looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Honcho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Positions winds up and cracks Honcho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Positions wants to work for an arm triangle but Honcho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Positions lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Honcho!
Honcho wants to hold on but Positions pushes him away.
BOOM! Positions connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Positions lands a big shot there that rocks Honcho but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Positions wants to control the pace but Honcho is squirming around nicely.
Honcho takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Positions fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Honcho sprawls well initially but Positions persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Honcho looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Positions! Submission of the night perhaps?
