PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincenzo Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vincenzo Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim White!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White tries a head kick but it misses.
It looked like Roach was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from White.
White wants to land a leg kick but Roach is out of range.
Roach feinted with a counter takedown.

White looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
White slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
An elbow from White crashes against the mat.
Roach tries to buck White off but White is having none of it.
White happy to just control the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roach is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but White has just dragged him back down to the mat.

White tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no White has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
White gets to mount! Roach was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Roach wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by White.

White goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Roach turns into him and now he's in White's guard.
Roach has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Roach will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

White is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Roach stands up from White's guard - Roach perhaps looking for a knockout.
Roach throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent White stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and White counters with a nice uppercut.

White drops Roach with a beautiful combination! Roach stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - White is looking for the KO!


Roach is rocked!


It looks like Vincenzo Roach has been cut.

White closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Oh Roach is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

White successfully pulls guard.
White has a closed guard, preventing Roach from standing up.

White working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roach doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roach manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Roach is looking to work some ground and pound but White has wrist control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

White looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Roach passes into half guard.

White is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Roach pulls his head out easily.

White throws a solid leg kick but Roach takes the impact on his shin and smiles at White.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

White drives through with a takedown into Roach's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Roach really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


White throws a nice looking combination but Roach bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

White closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Roach's guard.
White postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

White slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roach controls White momentarily but White frees himself.

White decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
White throws out a leg kick but Roach moves out of range and White only half commits.

White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
White takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

White is taking a breather. Roach says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

White looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Roach tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.
Roach is trying to maintain the position but White is very close to passing his half guard.
Roach tries to push off, looking to stand up, but White manages to move to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roach is looking to improve his position but White isn't that keen on the idea.

White manages to capitalize on a mistake by Roach to take his back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Roach is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by White.

Even with his hooks in, White manages to miss with strikes from the back.

I really don't envy Roach right now.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
White's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's time! Roach's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

White is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Roach can't fight it off and eventually White manages to take the fight to the floor. Roach looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

White gets to his feet - Roach follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roach is not content to let White control the position.
Roach can't do much from the bottom here.

Roach reaches up to try and control the position but White seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Roach rolls and tries to escape and now White has his back!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

White is looking for the choke from the back position but Roach is controlling his hands well.
Roach has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from White.
White thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Roach tries to escape but White has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Roach looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Tim White comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well White has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
