PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Warden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warden comes to the cage accompanied by bodies. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Warden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Parker!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Warden on the side of the head.
Warden fails with an attempt to clinch.
Warden blocks a jab.
Parker fails with a takedown attempt.
Warden is looking to clinch but Parker is avoiding it.
Parker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Parker.
Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Parker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Warden swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Parker throws a looping overhand right but Warden ducks down to avoid it.

Warden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Parker swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Warden decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Parker's guard.
Warden wants to get up but he can't break Parker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Warden is looking to stand up but Parker won't let him.

Parker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Parker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Warden swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Parker is taking a breather. Warden says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Parker wants to work for an arm triangle but Warden is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Parker is looking for a kimura but Warden is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Parker to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Parker stalks Warden and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Warden's face. Warden staggers backwards, shaken.

Parker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Warden gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Warden fails to pull guard.
Parker has had enough of the clinch but Warden keeps him there for the moment.
Warden misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Parker.
A head punch on the inside from Warden fails to land.

Parker turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Parker manages to end up in side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
David Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
