The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hennessey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gill holding on.
Gill is trying to improve his position.
Gill controls the position for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gill pushes Hennessey away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hennessey gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Gill is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hennessey off and has taken his back!
I really don't envy Hennessey right now.
Gill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gill's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hennessey rolls, trying to escape but Gill keeps control of the position.
Gill is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
