Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frito Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Van Kelly has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Van Kelly seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kelly throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lei tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kelly is in Lei's guard.
Kelly with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lei working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kelly.
Kelly missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kelly won't allow Lei to get back to his feet.
Kelly working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lei's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lei has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Open Mat's. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Lei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kelly is pushing down on Lei's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lei is fighting to maintain full guard but Kelly has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kelly will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kelly is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lei has hold of Kelly's hands but Kelly slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Kelly looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lei with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kelly lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kelly scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Lei is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Kelly can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
