PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Canadian Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Ash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Canadian Hero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Ash!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ash has Hero up against the cage in a clinch.
Hero working aggressively here.

Hero throws a head punch that misses.
Hero prevents a body shot from Ash.
Ash blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hero lands a hook to the side of the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ash has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ash looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Ash lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hero backwards.

Ash's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hero takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Canadian Hero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hero tries to clinch but Ash moves out of range.
Ash swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Hero moves into the clinch.
Ash wants a takedown but no success here.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Hero misses with the head strike.
Hero throws a punch but it's blocked by Ash.
Hero scores with a shoulder strike.
Hero lands with a short shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hero lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ash scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hero swings wildly with an uppercut but Ash uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ash fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ash works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Ash blocks an uppercut.
Ash blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ash tries to stall but Hero uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A head punch on the inside from Hero fails to land.
Hero lands with a left to the head.
Hero lands a right hand.
Hero working aggressively here.

Ash escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hero looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Canadian Hero is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ash scores with a jab.
Ash looks to land a combination but Hero avoids it well.

Ash has closed the distance and engaged Hero in a clinch.
Ash blocks an uppercut.
Ash lands with a short shot to the head.
Hero swings wildly with an uppercut but Ash uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hero has a couple of punches blocked by Ash.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hero lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Ash misses with a body punch.
Ash tries to stall but Hero uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hero throws a head punch that misses.

Ash has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hero regains guard immediately.
Hero thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hero throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hero punching from the bottom - just letting Ash know he's still in a fight.
Ash trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ash lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ash postures up and lands a big shot to Hero's brow.
Hero thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hero will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hero doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Ash works over Hero with some ground and pound from guard.
Ash is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hero throwing short punches from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hero doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Ash's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hero trying to strike off his back.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ash is working Hero over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hero will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hero has momentary wrist control but Ash slips an elbow through the middle.


Hero is rocked!
Ash chips away with some ground and pound.
Oh Hero is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ash cracks Hero with a solid left hand.
Ash gets to his feet and stands over Hero, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hero felt that one! Ash unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hero from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adam Ash!
An out of breath Adam Ash thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
