The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dave.
Cardenas throws a big counter combination but Dave scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Dave darts in looking for a takedown but Cardenas gets double underhooks and turns Dave into the cage.
Dave tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cardenas swivels and escapes.
Martin Cardenas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pudding Dave.

Cardenas gets in close and instigates a clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dave goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cardenas prevents it.
Dave wants to take the fight to the mat but Cardenas manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Dave dives in for a single leg takedown but Cardenas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Dave closes the distance and pushes Cardenas back into the cage.

Dave tightens his grip and picks Cardenas up, before dumping him to the ground. Cardenas manages to land in guard.

Dave thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cardenas's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cardenas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cardenas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dave on the ground.
Dave throwing shots but Cardenas is blocking nicely.

Cardenas throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Dave wants to free his trapped foot but Cardenas is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Cardenas is looking for a sweep. Dave is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dave is trying to work for a kimura but Cardenas is defending well.
Cardenas wants to control but Dave is keeping busy.
Dave content to control rather than advance.

Cardenas is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Dave has latched onto it... Big trouble! Dave pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Cardenas is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Dave!
