Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Britt Stephenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mamed Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mamed Khalidov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Britt Stephenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mamed Khalidov!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stephenson.

Stephenson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stephenson lands in his opponent's guard.
Khalidov pulls Stephenson in close to his closed guard and prevents Stephenson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Stephenson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khalidov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stephenson has managed to get both his arms back between Khalidov's legs - danger averted.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Khalidov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stephenson to the ground. Khalidov is now in Stephenson's guard.

Khalidov stands up and waves to Stephenson to follow him.

Stephenson gets tackled into the cage by Khalidov. Khalidov maintains the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Khalidov tries to work over Stephenson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Khalidov is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stephenson can't fight it off and eventually Khalidov manages to take the fight to the floor. Stephenson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Stephenson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Khalidov has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Stephenson is on him like a limpet, forcing Khalidov back against the cage.

Stephenson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khalidov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Stephenson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Khalidov dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stephenson. That did some damage!
Khalidov lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Stephenson at a distance.
Khalidov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stephenson throws a counter high kick but Khalidov was just alert enough to avoid it.

Khalidov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stephenson did well to prevent Khalidov getting side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khalidov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stephenson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Khalidov is in Stephenson's guard.

Stephenson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Khalidov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

and Khalidov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Stephenson's knee momentarily.

Khalidov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Khalidov feints and then cracks Stephenson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stephenson down.

Khalidov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stephenson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Khalidov. Stephenson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stephenson is looking to counter with head kicks.
Khalidov tries to close the distance and clinch but Stephenson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Khalidov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Khalidov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well Khalidov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
