PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dorian Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Latitude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edward Latitude will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dorian Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edward Latitude!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Latitude misses with a few strikes there.

Rush gets caught flat footed, as Latitude shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Latitude wants to stand but Rush is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rush will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Latitude wants to control from the top but Rush keeps moving.
Latitude prevents Rush from getting back to his feet.
Rush keeping moving, preventing Latitude from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Latitude drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rush dives on top into guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Rush postures up.
Latitude is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Latitude has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rush off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Latitude tries a head kick but it misses.
Rush throws a right hand that Latitude ducks under and follows up with a left that Latitude also avoids with ease.

Latitude gets the takedown into side control.
Rush wants to get back to his feet but Latitude is dominant here and he's now got Rush's back!
Rush is trying to stand back up.
Rush really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Latitude's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Latitude throwing sloppy strikes.
Rush is trying to stand back up.

Latitude is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rush is defending well though. Latitude let's go of the attempt for now.
Rush staying busy and making it hard for Latitude to control.

Rush wants to control his opponent's hands but Latitude gets his hands free.
Rush trying to get back to his feet but Latitude is in full control for now.
Rush trying to control the action but Latitude just sinks the hooks in.
Rush avoids the strikes from Latitude.
Latitude is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Rush can't escape the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rush staying busy and making it hard for Latitude to control.
Rush is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Latitude lands punches and elbows.
Rush is really stuck here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Rush manages to reverse the position and now he's in Latitude's guard. Nice work there by Rush.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Latitude wriggles free and stands up.
Dorian Rush is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Latitude connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Latitude dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rush chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Latitude can pounce on him.

Latitude looking to score a takedown here. Rush is defending well but Latitude drives through and ends up in Rush's guard.

Latitude drops back looking for a leg! Rush is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rush manages to kick Latitude off! Latitude jumps back into Rush's guard.

Rush is working an open guard so Latitude takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Edward Latitude seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Latitude throws a body shot but no joy.
Latitude misses with a jab, cross combination.
Latitude takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Latitude shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Latitude showed some decent athleticism there.

Rush kicks off Latitude and gets to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Latitude avoids the head kick by Rush.
Rush showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Latitude.

Latitude changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rush looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Latitude trying to control the action but Rush is working from the bottom.
Rush avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Latitude.

Latitude stands up and beckons Rush to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rush gets tackled into the cage by Latitude. Latitude maintains the clinch.

Latitude pulls guard successfully.

Rush got a little sloppy there for a moment and Latitude has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rush has managed to get both his arms back between Latitude's legs - danger averted.
Rush throws a big right hand that misses.
Latitude looking to control.
Latitude wants to control the position but Rush says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Latitude punching from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Latitude is looking for a sweep. Rush is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rush looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Latitude is looking to improve his position.
Rush takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Rush thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rush is keen to just control but Latitude is a slippery customer.
Latitude is trying to get back to full guard.
Rush scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Latitude showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rush fails to land with a series of punches.
Latitude lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Latitude has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A punch combination from Rush misses.

Latitude shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rush is trying to defend but Latitude finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Latitude gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Rush misses with a body kick.

Latitude drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rush is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Latitude dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Latitude stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Latitude shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rush's guard.
Rush being controlled here, momentarily.

Rush working for a triangle but Latitude defends it easily.
Latitude slips nicely into half guard.
Edward Latitude has got the better of the ground game so far.

Latitude is pressing down on Rush's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rush is holding on for now.
Latitude passes to side control.
Latitude controls the position.
Latitude throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Latitude tries to score with some ground and pound. Rush controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Latitude just content to control the position.
Rush is not content to let Latitude control the position.
Latitude taking a break here but Rush is having none of it and regains half guard.

Latitude wants to work for an arm triangle but Rush is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Latitude stands up and beckons Rush to join him on the feet.
Latitude throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rush's head.


Rush is rocked!
Latitude feints a jab and as Rush dips his head, Latitude unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Rush right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Rush falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Latitude smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Edward Latitude!
