The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellwood throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Silva looks for a takedown but Wellwood sprawls well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wellwood tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wellwood to the ground. Wellwood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wellwood is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silva Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wellwood's back instead.

Wellwood throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wellwood off to one side.
