Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Desmond Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, King Maddin!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Armstrong wants it to stay on the feet.

and Armstrong counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maddin can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maddin wants to sweep here but Armstrong controlling him for the moment.
Armstrong tries to stand but Maddin is controlling from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Maddin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Armstrong defends it nicely.
Armstrong is looking to counter the offense by Maddin and move into the clinch.
Desmond Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of King Maddin.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Maddin takes the fight into the clinch.
Armstrong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Maddin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Desmond Armstrong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Armstrong forces Maddin back against the cage and clinches.

Maddin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Armstrong gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Maddin manages to break the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maddin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Armstrong tries to avoid it but Maddin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Armstrong to the ground. Armstrong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Armstrong half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Maddin tries for a takedown but Armstrong circles away easily
enabling Armstrong to counter with a crisp jab.
Maddin looks winded!
A head kick misses from Maddin.
Maddin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Armstrong counters by moving into the clinch.

Armstrong jumps into guard, dragging Maddin to the mat.

Armstrong pushes a forearm under Maddin's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Maddin is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Desmond Armstrong!
