Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer has chosen GSP - Not Impressed as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pablo Rodrigo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santiago Palmer!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigo defending well as Palmer loads up on a big left hand.
A nice combination there by Rodrigo.
Rodrigo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Palmer.
Rodrigo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rodrigo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rodrigo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Santiago Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodrigo lands a nice hook to Palmer's body. Palmer takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rodrigo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Palmer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Palmer is looking to take a break and control but Rodrigo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodrigo is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rodrigo is looking to regain half guard here but Palmer keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

and Palmer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Palmer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pablo Rodrigo will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rodrigo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Palmer moves away.
Palmer looks to score with a jab to the body but Rodrigo is just out of range.

Palmer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Palmer has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Rodrigo throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A quick step to the side and Rodrigo tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Palmer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rodrigo finds it's way round the side to connect with Palmer's head.

It looked like Rodrigo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pablo Rodrigo will probably get the nod.

Palmer might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rodrigo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
