Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Hilgers!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willis takes a kick to the side of the head.
Willis looks to score with a jab to the body but Hilgers is just out of range.
Willis misses with a wild combination.
Hilgers bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Willis scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Hilgers lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Brett Hilgers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hilgers closes the distance and clinches.
Hilgers lands a knee to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hilgers has Willis pressed against the cage, preventing Willis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Willis pulls guard effortlessly.
Willis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hilgers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Willis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hilgers has passed into side control.

Willis is trying to get back to half guard.
Hilgers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hilgers goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Willis has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hilgers but great work by Willis.

Willis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Willis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hilgers is trying to control Willis's posture but Willis avoids it.
Hilgers is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Willis is staying active.
Hilgers throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Willis decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Willis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hilgers sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hilgers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Willis to the mat! Willis manages to get full guard.
Hilgers stays in close to Willis's body and controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hilgers looking to sit in guard and control but Willis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hilgers scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Willis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Hilgers gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Willis tries to pull guard but Hilgers won't allow it.
Willis jumps guard but Hilgers stands there with Willis around his waist. Willis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Willis bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hilgers's head backwards.
Hilgers lands with a nice combination. Willis backs away looking to recover.
Hilgers lands with a shot to the body.

Hilgers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Willis napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hilgers in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Hilgers decides to stand back up.
Hilgers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hilgers has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Willis breaks the clinch.

Hilgers lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Willis is rocked!

Hilgers dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Willis has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Brett Hilgers!
