PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drake comes to the cage accompanied by Numbered! by Devin Townsend & Anneke Van Giersbergen. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathan Drake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 33 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Caldwell!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Caldwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Drake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Caldwell throws a push kick but Drake slaps the foot to one side.
An attempted straight right counter from Drake misses the target.
Drake swats away the attempt to clinch by Caldwell.
Drake ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Caldwell moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Drake. No joy for Caldwell on that attempt.
Drake appears to be looking for a big counter.
Some wild striking there from Drake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Caldwell is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Caldwell tries to clinch but Drake moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Caldwell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Drake swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Caldwell darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Drake tries to kick Caldwell off in order to stand up. Caldwell Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Drake tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Caldwell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Caldwell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Caldwell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Caldwell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drake keeps working.
Drake is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Caldwell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Drake is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Caldwell decides to stand back up.
Caldwell fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Caldwell with that takedown attempt.
Nathan Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Caldwell.

Drake clinches.
Caldwell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Drake breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Caldwell shoots in for a double leg but Drake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Caldwell fails to land the takedown.
Drake avoids a punch combination nicely.

Caldwell tries to keep at a distance but Drake has taken the fight into the clinch.
Drake lands with a short shot to the head.
Caldwell is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Caldwell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Caldwell looking to stall.
Caldwell tries to break free but Drake pushes him back against the cage.

Drake manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Caldwell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Drake throws out the jab.
Drake circles away from the clinch attempt.
Caldwell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Drake counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A combination from Caldwell does no damage.
Caldwell shoots for a takedown but Drake saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Caldwell gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Caldwell is keen to just control but Drake is a slippery customer.

Caldwell is working for a kimura but Drake is defending it quite comfortably.
Drake is looking for a sweep. Caldwell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Drake dominated that round.
That's time! Drake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Drake lands a slapping body shot.
Caldwell looks for a takedown but Drake sprawls well.
Drake is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Caldwell can do to turn this around?
Caldwell cracks Drake with a right hand to the side of the head.
Drake throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Caldwell crashing down! Caldwell tries to stagger back to his feet but Drake just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Caldwell asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nathan Drake!
During a confident post fight interview, Nathan Drake thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
