PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Willy Wonka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russian Zombie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wonka kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mr Rotten Treats - Insane Clown Posse. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zombie throws a leg kick

and Wonka counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wonka wants to control from the top but Zombie keeps moving.
Zombie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Wonka throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zombie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Zombie holds on and takes a little breather.

Wonka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zombie moves away.

Wonka has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

It looks like Willy Wonka has been cut.
Zombie lands with an uppercut that bounces Wonka off the cage and back into range.

enabling Zombie to counter with a crisp jab.
Zombie connects with a body shot that sends Wonka's belly button to the back.
Wonka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zombie but Zombie pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Zombie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Wonka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zombie defends it nicely.
Wonka fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zombie avoids it really well and circles away.

Zombie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Wonka rushes Zombie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wonka tries to throw a body punch but Zombie avoids it by throwing Wonka back against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Zombie scores with a nice short uppercut.
Zombie lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Wonka backwards.

Zombie manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wonka tries for a takedown. No joy.
Wonka blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Wonka jumps guard but Zombie stands there with Wonka around his waist. Wonka gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Zombie misses with a short punch on the inside.

Zombie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wonka closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Zombie explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Wonka cracks a nice hook into Zombie's ribs.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wonka throws a body punch but Zombie moves out of range.

Wonka shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zombie's guard.

Zombie has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wonka off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Zombie uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Wonka has time to react.

Zombie is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Zombie moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Zombie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wonka looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wonka throws a combination. Zombie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Russian Zombie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The fighters circle momentarily. Zombie darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Zombie scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Wonka takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Zombie pounces like a tiger and cracks Wonka with a vicious hook! Wonka is down but not out! Zombie follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
