Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harlan Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramachandra Funske (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ramachandra Funske!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Funske gets caught napping as Pearson dives in and scores a takedown. Funske manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearson throwing strikes but missing.

Funske looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Funske is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pearson defends well.
Pearson stops Funske from standing up.
Pearson postures up in Funske's guard and throws a big left but Funske blocks it.

Pearson has Funske up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Funske escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pearson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pearson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Funske tries to roll over but Pearson keeps him under control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Funske can do anything to dispel that myth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Funske wants to improve his position but Pearson is controlling well.
Pearson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pearson tries to stand and escape but Funske actually recovers to full guard.
Funske seems keen to control Pearson's posture.
Pearson prevents Funske from getting back to his feet.

Funske looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Funske escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pearson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Funske throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Pearson tries to stand but Funske is controlling from the bottom.
Pearson wants to stand and escape but instead Funske has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Pearson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Funske is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pearson defends well.
Pearson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Funske is proving hard to escape from.

That was a close round but I would say that Harlan Pearson will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Funske has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pearson uses from the top position.

Pearson drives through with a takedown into Funske's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Pearson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Funske manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pearson has Funske in his guard.

Pearson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Funske wants to get up but he can't break Pearson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Funske has his foot on Pearson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pearson works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Funske is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Pearson can't break the clinch.
Pearson wants to break free but Funske has control.
Ramachandra Funske has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Harlan Pearson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Funske throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pearsons head.

I would just about give that final round to Ramachandra Funske.
Well Pearson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
