Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitri Akhmetov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arthur Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitri Akhmetov!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs fails to land the takedown.
Briggs tries to clinch there but Akhmetov circles away.
Briggs looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Akhmetov lands a glancing blow to the side of Briggs's head.
Akhmetov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Briggs appears to be looking for a big counter.
Briggs fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arthur Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akhmetov lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Arthur Briggs has been cut.
Briggs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Briggs has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Body Pain_12elite_599$+VM in the buildup to the fight.

Briggs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Akhmetov was well out of range. Poor timing from Briggs.
Akhmetov misses with a few strikes there.
Akhmetov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Briggs drops down looking for a counter takedown but Akhmetov sprawls and moves away.
Briggs has a takedown stuffed.
Akhmetov throws a body punch but Briggs moves out of range.
Akhmetov leaves Briggs with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Briggs darts in looking for a takedown but Akhmetov gets double underhooks and turns Briggs into the ropes.
Briggs throws a head kick that misses.
Akhmetov lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Briggs is breathing heavily.
Briggs walks into a straight right hand from Akhmetov.

Akhmetov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Briggs, pushing him back against the ropes.
A frustrated look appears on Akhmetov's face as he tries to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akhmetov working hard to break the clinch.
Akhmetov stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Briggs is trying to pull guard but Akhmetov has him pressed against the ropes.
Briggs changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Akhmetov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Akhmetov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Briggs.
Akhmetov unleashes a big counter combination but Briggs bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Briggs takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Briggs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Briggs quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Akhmetov throws a body punch but Briggs moves out of range.
Briggs is looking for a counter combo.

Akhmetov throws a series of punches but Briggs avoids them all with ease.
Briggs moves out of range of the leg kick from Akhmetov.

Akhmetov rushes Briggs and presses him up against the ropes.
Briggs tries for a takedown. No joy.
Akhmetov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Akhmetov manages to break the clinch.
Akhmetov is looking to clinch.
A combination from Akhmetov does no damage.

Briggs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Akhmetov circles away.
Akhmetov throws a counter combo.
Akhmetov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Briggs moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Akhmetov clinches up against the ropes.

Akhmetov manages to break the clinch.
Briggs showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Akhmetov.
Briggs seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Briggs misses with a takedown attempt - Akhmetov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Akhmetov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Briggs fails with a takedown attempt.
Akhmetov slaps away a takedown attempt from Briggs, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Akhmetov checks a low kick from Briggs.
Akhmetov looks like he wants to counter punch here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akhmetov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Briggs blocks the body kick.
Akhmetov throws a series of punches but Briggs moves out of range.
Briggs takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Briggs misses with a takedown attempt
and Akhmetov counters with a two punch combo.


Briggs is rocked!

Akhmetov rushes Briggs and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Oh Briggs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Akhmetov wants the takedown. Briggs is fighting it off but Akhmetov persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Briggs's guard against the ropes.

Briggs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akhmetov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Briggs wants to sweep but no luck.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akhmetov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Akhmetov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Briggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Akhmetov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Akhmetov stands and throws Briggs's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Akhmetov decides to stand back up. Akhmetov steps back and let's Briggs get back to his feet.

Akhmetov has closed the distance and engaged Briggs in a clinch.

Akhmetov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Akhmetov lands with a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Akhmetov is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Briggs is in big trouble! Akhmetov is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Briggs. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Dmitri Akhmetov!
