PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Mcgregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgregor has chosen Creeping Death as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Isaac Freeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Connor Mcgregor!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgregor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Freeman quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freeman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mcgregor's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mcgregor's back!
A lull in the action here.

Freeman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Freeman throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Mcgregor is in bad spot here.
Mcgregor manages to reverse the position and now he's in Freeman's guard. Nice work there by Mcgregor.

Mcgregor gets to his feet. Freeman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Mcgregor clinches up with Freeman and pushes him back against the cage.
Mcgregor wants to break the clinch but can't.

Mcgregor ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mcgregor no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mcgregor wants to stand and escape but Freeman is having none of it.

Mcgregor throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Freeman escapes and throws Mcgregor's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Freeman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Freeman moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Mcgregor is trying to improve his position.
Freeman wants to control but Mcgregor is keeping him busy.

Mcgregor is looking to reverse the position.
A lull in the action here as Freeman stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcgregor tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Freeman working away.
Freeman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Freeman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mcgregor is looking to reverse the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mcgregor manages to work his way to half guard, despite Freeman's best efforts.

Mcgregor is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mcgregor tries to sprawl but Freeman drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Mcgregor has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Freeman is on him like a limpet, forcing Mcgregor back against the cage.
Mcgregor tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcgregor is trying to force a seperation but Freeman has the dominant position.
Freeman jumps guard but Mcgregor turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Mcgregor dominated that round.
That's time! Freeman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Freeman moves in looking to clinch but Mcgregor pushes him off.

Mcgregor tries to land a knee to the head but Freeman blocks with his arms.

Mcgregor looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mcgregor is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Freeman is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mcgregor is keeping busy.

Freeman can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Mcgregor gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Freeman regains guard.

Freeman wants to control the position but Mcgregor says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Mcgregor wants to work for an arm triangle but Freeman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mcgregor is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Freeman!

Mcgregor moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Freeman has worked his arm free - good work by Freeman!

Mcgregor stands up and beckons Freeman to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Freeman fails with the takedown
and Mcgregor counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Isaac Freeman has been cut.

Mcgregor pushes Freeman up against the cage in a clinch.
Freeman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mcgregor just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isaac Freeman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Freeman is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Mcgregor tries to break free but Freeman pushes him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mcgregor wants to get back to striking at distance but Freeman won't allow it.

Mcgregor wants the takedown. Freeman is fighting it off but Mcgregor persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Freeman's guard against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Mcgregor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Freeman tries to bench press Mcgregor off him but Mcgregor keeps the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Freeman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mcgregor.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mcgregor clinches up against the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Mcgregor.

Mcgregor decides to pull guard.

Mcgregor working for a triangle but Freeman defends it easily.

Mcgregor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Freeman defends well.

Freeman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Connor Mcgregor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mcgregor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
